Electric Outboard Motors

The Trusted Solution for Electric Boating

Quality marine battery chargers maintain battery health and prolong battery life. Choosing the correct onboard battery charger for your boat starts with the motor’s operating voltage. This ranges from 24 volts for our smaller inboard and outboard motors to 96 volts for our EP-30 and EP-50 outboards and 144 volts for some electric inboard motor applications. Battery type — whether lithium, AGM or lead-acid — also factors into battery charger selection for boats. A charger’s total wattage indicates how quickly it recharges batteries, regardless of voltage.

NOCO Genius battery chargers provide multi-chemistry and multi-voltage compatibility, which allows flexibility to simultaneously charge multiple systems — such as a trolling motor powered by 24-volt lithium batteries as well as 48-volt AGM batteries for an Elco EP-20 electric outboard motor, and even a 12-volt lead-acid battery to run a live bait well and electronics. NOCO chargers maintain constant output watts while automatically adapting between 240-volt or 120-volt shoreside input power.

NOCO Genius Gen 2 outputs 240 watts total divided among one or two battery banks. NOCO Genius Gen 3 outputs 360 watts total divided among one, two or three battery banks. NOCO Genius Gen 4 outputs 480 watts total divided among one, two, three or four battery banks.

NOCO’s GX series battery charger accommodates only lithium batteries, and one battery bank, but provides 960 total watts to shorten charging time. NOCO chargers maintain constant output watts while automatically adapting between 240-volt or 120-volt shoreside input power. GX 2440 outputs 40 amps at 24 volts (960 watts). GX 4820 outputs 20 amps at 48 volts (960 watts).

EV Chargers accommodate lithium or AGM batteries at all voltages for our 24-volt smaller electric inboards and electric outboards all the way up to our largest 96-volt electric outboard motors and 144-volt electric inboard motors. Output is 3600 watts with 240-volt input from common household or marina electrical receptacles, and we offer a connection kit to utilize or J1772 Level 2 roadside EV charging stations as well.

When connecting to 120-volt common electrical receptacles, reduced 1800-watt charging output won’t trip attached household circuit breakers. Besides primary propulsion battery charging, a secondary output provides another 65 watts (5 amps at 13.5 volts) to charge lithium, AGM or lead-acid batteries that power running lights, bilge pumps, marine electronics and other “house” loads.
