St. Johns Ship Building of Jacksonville Florida delivered a totally electric glass bottom tour boat “Chief Potackee Betty Mae Tiger Jump” to the Florida Department of Environmental Protection Agency in June.

Designed by Lay, Pitman & Associates, the new aluminum boat works in north central Florida’s Silver Springs State Park. We are giving environmentally friendly tours with up to 28 passengers and 2 crew members with twin EP-20 Electric Outboard Motors. There is no better way to view the stunning beauty and crystal clear waters of one of America’s largest springs. Experience Silver Springs Glass boat tours aboard an all Electric, environmentally friendly boat made possible by Elco Electric Outboard Motors.

The Twin EP-20 Elco electric outboards are powered with four Lithionics 7.5kW Lithium-Ion batteries. The outboards are fixed with 8” diameter 3 bladed props with a 9.25 pitch. The electric motors give the vessel a running speed of 10 knots.

The Glass Bottom Tour boat has been nominated for Workboat of the Year by Workboat Magazine, an honor also bestowed on a New York State Tug boat powered by Twin Elco EP-100 inboard motors.
